ELEANOR (she/her) Reformer, Mat, Barre

Muse: The people who value authenticity and connection. The body, for its quiet wisdom. My cat Thom, who embodies rest and self-care. And my future self — because life is richer when we romanticize our own becoming.

Eleanor van Veen’s lifelong relationship with movement—shaped by over 25 years of dance training—forms the foundation of her Pilates practice and teaching. She is a Pilates instructor, dance educator, contemporary-based dance artist, coffee enthusiast, and music lover based in Toronto. Originally from Cape Breton Island, Eleanor grew up dancing competitively and playing a variety of sports. From an early age, movement has been an essential part of her life, shaping her passionate and embodied approach to teaching today.

Eleanor received her Mat and Reformer certifications from Mindful Movement Centre under the graceful guidance of Leslie Parker. As a professional dancer who has navigated chronic pain and injuries, she deeply understands the importance of respecting boundaries and listening to the body. You’ll often hear her say, “choose your own adventure”—an invitation to honour what you truly need. Another reminder she loves to share, both in life and in class, is “stay curious.” This sentiment threads through everything she teaches. Come to her class as you are, with an open mind, and she’ll be there to challenge you, offer options, and create space to explore and play.

What to expect from Eleanor’s class:

Much like dance, Eleanor’s classes have flow, stillness, breath, music, and a sense of aliveness. Her Pilates offerings are accessible, challenging, and rewarding—designed to support a wide range of individuals and meet you exactly where you are.

Specialities: I've worked with private clients post hip + knee replacement, prenatal, and post prolapse. I wouldn't say I'm yet specialized in these areas, but I'm comfortable supporting these folks.
