How the Waitlist Works

BY: KERI O’MEARA

Okay, pals. I know the idea of a waitlist can seem a little daunting in this world of hustle bustle and planning to the tee. If anyone gets it, it's this control monster over here. I have a job that is so dependent on scheduling - mine, my staff and my clients. So, the idea of a waitlist used to strike a bit of fear in me.

I'm here to share a secret - it ain't so bad. The thing is, you either get in with enough time to rubix cube your schedule so you can make it to class OR you get in at the last minute and you realize it's a bonus to your day.

A spontaneous Pilates sesh is a pretty amazing gift for your day. Here is another little secret (you did not hear it from me), myself, Carly, Erynn and alllllllll of the teachers… well, we are a little obsessive and we constantly check who is in class.

And, guess what? On a Monday, the attendance signed up for Friday is NEVER who ends up in class on a Friday. Which is to say that lives are transient. Which is to say that - the waitlist works. I promise you.

I have been watching the schedule like a hawk for 9 years and believe me when I shout from the top of my reformer - THE WAITLIST WORKS. I realize, however, that not everyone knows just exactly how it works. So, for peace of mind and to help you make an informed decision about whether or not to put yourself on one, I'm going to break down exactly how our waitlist system works and what to expect when you sign yourself up for it.

Our waitlist notifications will be sent to the email and phone number provided on your Momence account. When a student drops out of class, the system will automatically register the next person on the waitlist. This is when you’ll receive your confirmation email and text.

AND there are only 3 waitlist spots available for each class. So, it’s not like there are 20 other students in front of you. And even if you are third on that list, there is still definitely a chance that you will get added to class!

If you find yourself unable to attend the class while you’re still on the waitlist, please remove yourself from it. For two reasons. (1) There are only 3 spots on the waitlist. If you can’t make it, please open the spot for something else. (2) Our waitlist cutoff time is 4 hours. Meaning, Momence will only notify you with at least 4 hours notice before the start of class. BUT, our late cancellation policy is 12 hours. SO, if you are still on the waitlist for a class you can’t attend, and you get added to the class within the cancellation window AND THEN cancel, you’ll be charged for a late cancellation.

If you get added to the class before that 12 hour cancellation policy cut-off, no worries! You can cancel your spot in class without losing the credit.

And, if you still aren’t convinced that the waitlist works, remember how we told you that we check the schedule alllllll the time? Well, Erynn, our Member Support Specialist is looking at the class list enough that she will personally text you if she spots a late cancellation within that 4 hour waitlist window to see if you would like to come to class instead!

So, there it is folks. Hopefully this helps you be less waitlist shy. We like to keep our class sizes small, so we can give you all the attention you deserve - but, this means limited spots. We suggest signing up wayyy in advance or saying yes to the waitlist and throw caution to the wind.

See you on the Reformer, Muses.
