Working out with a friend

BY KERI O’MEARA

Have you ever noticed that when you go to the gym or to a fitness class with a friend that it flies by like that. What's that old adage - time flies when you are having fun - and working out with a friend is just that. Fun times all around.

This is why we try to create a strong community feeling at The Muse - we have always wanted your experience to feel like you are just a roomful of pals working out together in your living room.

And this is why we have created an easy referral program - because we are committed to your success and our goal of helping you feel good.

It's actually plain old neuroscience that connecting with others is good for the body. You may have heard the term PolyVagal theory? Here are the Cole’s notes…

Your vagus nerve is the biggest nerve in your body and it regulates a lot of important systems and you can exercise this nerve so that it runs the systems well and you have a happy healthy nervous system and life🙂 How can you tone it? By connecting with other humans and with yourself. When you're in a class and you look at your friend or share a little giggle - you're also exercising your vagus nerve not just your muscles - pretty cool, right?

Having fun and noticing the effects that a shared goal and connection brings to our bods’ and brains and spirit will only make us more likely to keep coming to class and keep feeling our best. Rinse, wash, repeat. The cycle goes round and round. There are plenty of studies that reveal that exercising with your mate will increase your likelihood of sticking to a routine by up to 95%. The center for disease control in the U.S. even suggests buddy workouts on its website.

So bring a friend or connect with your Muse friends and know you are getting more than just a workout when you visit us. And folks if you also just want to show up, put your head down and have some alone time too - we fully support that.

Here are the deets of the referral program and if you still have Q’s just shoot up a quick email we got your back, and your vagus nerve🙂
